I’d got a bit fed up of reading serious text and reference book. While I do enjoy reading them it can become a little tiring. Sci fi is not a subject I’ve read much of. I usually go for Fantasy or historic. But my dad was clearing the loft and passed these onto me and I was hooked after the first chapter. The scale, the diversity, the action, the horror .. the .. the scale . the scale . .was just incredible. The characters are wonderful and your feelings towards them shift and change through extremes during the three books. And he does a very good job of making the unbelievable seem perfectly rational and ordinary and weaves them through this massively populated universe.
There’s a couple of niggles though. Sometimes he can ramble a bit. Can go on just a bit too much. But then by the third book I wanted him to slow down even more and .. . It was sooo good and I can’t recommend them enough. If you like huge space opera or scifi on the scale of Eve or bigger, then read these books.
