I’ll just quickly throw this up here as I still find it quite a striking image. Showing the face of a boy and the profile of a man over the two torn flags. Says a lot with relatively few elements.

Throughout the history section and dotted through out the interface we used period portraits and out of all of them this boys face began to take on some significance. He seemed to stand for the loss of innocense and the massive change the war inflicted on the country. And in game we use the two flags to denote the factions and use harsh black and white in the interface.

Once the name was changed to Battle Hymn it no longer made sense so was dropped though did serve as a starting point for the final icon and logo treatment.
