I’ve been blessed so far with working with a number of really good clients on unusual and interesting projects. This was no exception. To create sculptures that would be made into large aluminium plates for shaping leather. These were quite the largest sculpts I’ve made, coming in at just under half a meter square, and for the most part had to be done by hand rather than relying on alphas.

While these were based on alligator scales, some elements had to be simplified and others exaggerated in order to work with the leather. There also had to be smaller surface detail that would be picked out as the leather was dyed and worked by hand.
