We buried our cat yesterday.
Sooty.
It shouldn’t of been as upsetting as it was but, it was. We’re devastated.
He’d been with us 18 years. We’d already lost our other cat, Slippers, a few years back. He’d acted like Sootys dad. They got on so well, were really playful, and when Slippers was in his prime ( his was a big grey tom cat with the physique of a tiger when on the hunt ) they both ruled the street.
When Slippers died, Sooty was lost for a long time. Slippers was put to sleep at the vets because of a huge tumour that robbed him of his quality of life, so Sooty never got to say goodbye. He could tell Slippers wasn’t well but one day he was there, the next day he wasn’t. It must of been so hard for him to understand. So it took him a long time to adapt and in the end he found himself again and made a few friends around the street. Both cats treated our neighbours over the road like family. When they were young, their kids were always around our house so I expect that the cats just assumed we all lived in both houses. They’d climb in the window and sit on the back of their sofa watching the TV.
So he’s gone. I’ve worked from home for about 15 years so I was with him 24hrs a day.
18 years wan’t long enough.
Its too quiet.
